The narrator hilariously shares his experiences traveling around Hawa'ii, Peru, Bolivia, Cuba, Canada, New Zealand, and Ireland. So many witty remarks tucked away in each of the pages that had me laughing out loud. Some stories had me glued to the page, like the one on Bolivia's "Death Road." If you're into traveling - highly recommend a read, it'll be fun to compare and contrast your own stories with his. If you're not into traveling - still highly recommend a read because he tells stories that make you feel like you're right there with him, so you'll get the many benefits of traveling while never leaving your couch.
This is a fun read especially if you like to travel. I felt like I was right next to the author in several of the locations he visited. What I liked most about this book was his down to earth approach filled with descriptions that made me burst into laughter. I can only imagine the pee pee dance in the lobby, the anticipated bear in bear country, and crazy Fruit of the Loom skydivers. I have to admit that I really want to go to New Zealand even more so. The photos in the book are beautiful too. If you want to read a real travel book with real experiences, avoiding the cliche, this is your read.
Hilarious! The author's travels around the world are not only fascinating places to visit, but also told with great comedy. Every chapter is a fascinating read. His experiences and observations of others will have you in stitches. The author also hosts a very informative podcast on unique travel. Check that out before or after you've read the book. This is one of those books that you'll want to read over and over. Tell your friends and family about this one. Throw it in your suitcase for your travels. Love it!
I could not put the book down. The most entertaining book I have read in a long time. The stories are riveting, at times I could feel my own heart racing and at other times I found myself laughing out loud, much to the chagrin of the people around me who probably thought I was more of a lunatic than I really am. Being from Hawaii and not understanding the cold, I found the gorilla mask story hilarious. The writing style is casual and conversational fitting me as a reader and the authenticity of the stories are ones I could really relate to. I am so glad I picked this book up.
Granted, humour is subjective. You may find this collection of badly written travel related stories hilarious. I did not even finish the first chapter. The alarm bells started to ring while reading the intro. This book is a great example of the flip side of e book publishing.
This book is part travel memoir, part comedic entertainment. No matter which appeals to you more,it is 100% an enjoyable read. Join the author on his hilarious travel tales that take you from Hawaii, to Ireland, to New Zealand, and several places in between. I read the book appropriately on a plane and had several strange glances thrown my way as I literally laughed out loud too many times to be socially acceptable. Warning- read this book only in places where out-loud laughter is condoned!
Now I want to go travelling again! I very much enjoyed this book – and although it includes some great photos I found myself Googling Death Road and Lake Louise just because the narrative is so inspiring. This is a call to action, whether you decide to pack your bags and take off, or to grab a snack and live it from your armchair.
