I expected this book to provide more up-to-date information and more guidance than I have been able to find on the internet. Although this book contained a lot of good information that has remained true over time, it was very general. The book contained many things that I already know. Although I have never gone to cosmetology school, this information would have served me well if I needed a refresher in the basics. I have afro-textured hair, and I have had to learn to take care of it on my own (since it looks better on my head than on the floor or in the trash) based on my current location. This book is ok if you need to learn very basic things. The language in which it is written is simple.
