The FIRST time I opened up this guide, it was for help with how to solve the "Ainigmata Ostraka" riddles. These are the riddles that are placed around the game world that the player finds - similar to 'Batman: Arkham' riddles, etc. Completing the riddles offers rewards. Unfortunately, this guide only mentions what the rewards are for completing the riddles - not how to actually solve them! ... I even redeemed the digital code and did a 'search' in the e-guide to see if I was personally missing something. Nope! The search just brought up a digital version of the same printed page I was looking at before (screenshot attached). Frustrating that this guide spends hundreds of pages on basic strategies that many experienced Assassin's Creed players knew about long before even starting this year's game, but we can't get answers to completing challenges new to this *particular* game.
Absolutely disappointing, infuriating rubbish. I have the collectors guide for every AC to date. And I've never been more disappointed. Cheap, squishy cardboard body that feels reminiscent of a kids book. Equally trash paper quality, and worse ink. Pink where it should be red, and some places missing ink all together. Disappointing doesnt even begin to cover. Speaking of cover, did i mention how horrible it is?
There's hardly anything in this that isn't available in-game. Do you want to know what the difficulty levels do? If you look them up in the guide, it simply says in one line "Choose your difficulty: Easy, Normal, Hard, Nightmare." Or the classic "GAME ENDING: ... this sign... will signal a dialogue option that is critical to the game ending. These are crucial to the game's ending." Why use one sentence when you could use two? When I looked up a difficult side quest, the guide simply told me that this was a side quest. No tips or tricks or information at all. When you look up the skills there is equal or less information in the skill guide than the tips in the game itself.It is nicely made and has full color pictures and graphics throughout so it doesn't deserve one star. And if by chance you're someone that wants a step by step guide of the main quest, then this is for you.If otoh you're looking for insight greater than a writer who probably didn't play the game or played very little of it because of some schedule they had to keep to meet the release date, look elsewhere.
The book is very helpful, but it has blue ink smeared throughout the pages.
There are some typos and missing content that is luckily available in the eguide version that comes with it (E.g. weapon type descriptions are incomplete). It just feels like this was rushed.
Very disappointed with this book. Have bought the other companion books with Black Flag on and this truly is a waste of money.
book has nice high quality pages, very detailed, definitely accomindates the game. tells things you would easily overlook in the game if you didn't have this book. happy with this purchase
I would have rated this book 5 stars but the first time I needed it, it didn't have the information I was looking for. Still a 4 star book.
